I went to 2 art colleges and studied drawing and painting. After graduating, I exhibited a bit, but became frustrated. So I left “art” and became a digital designer. I’ve freelanced for 10 years now, but always “wish” I could leave the computer and just paint. But (gosh, lots of “but” here!) haven’t been involved in a show for years, haven’t done “art” in years. Trying to get back into it with crafty type painting to get around the frustrations. I feel sad that, maybe, it’s too late.
How to become a professional artist
How I did it: I started very young learning to draw. I'd practice by taking an encyclopedia and draw what I saw. Over the years I kept practicing. One day people say my work and asked me to do some work for them. One was for a picture they wanted to frame, the other was to draw sketches for her book she was publishing. It's a side job that is more of a hobby for me. I don't know if I will make a career out of it but I do enjoy doing the odd job when someone asks. Sometimes I have to turn them down if I am too busy with my family.
