relearn sign language

When I was younger I had a deaf classmate. Therefore all the classmates learned sign language. When the student left my school I continued it with my best friend throughout the years.We communicated like that in class and teachers had no clue that we were talking in sign language. They thought we were stretching our hands or some crap like that. Its a useful tool that I would like to regain. =)

When I was 14 months old I had menigitus and it left me deaf in my right ear, and at a 6month level among oher thing.I didn’t talk again until I was 4 1/2 years old. And in fear that I woul go deaf and/or never talk again I was taught sign. I used itunti I was 6 or so but not using it I forgot most of it over the years. I honestly do feel like I’m missing something not remembering how to sign. I’ve just not gotten around to relearning.

found a book i have had for years. looking forward to re-teaching myself. i was inspired by the movie project x when i was a little kid – watching virgil sign to his keepers – so i went to the library and learned everything i could about signing. but, not using it, i don’t remember much after all these years. it’ll be cool to use it again!

In the fall, I took an ASL class through my local university after emailing the instructor about the best level for a rusty signer. It was worthwhile. I met some great people, and managed to remember a lot of sign, but I’m clearly older and slower than when I first took ASL as a 20-year-old kid ages ago. Either it’s gotten harder to learn new things, or I’ve blocked out memories of having to work so hard to remember.

randomly, i got a job today babysitting a deaf child…i’m glad i starting refreshing my memory. :)

I was certified at age 7, but lost alot.

Both of my parents are deaf, but when I moved with my grandparents, when i was about 2, I completely forgot how to sign!!
