try something new once a month

1. Went to a concert for the first time.
2. Rode “The Ducks” around Seattle.
3. Took my Mom out for a fancy dinner (and paid for it).

1. I signed up to be a mystery shopper! I’ve always wanted to do this but was a little scared. I’ve done 3 shops so far and it is a lot of fun. Plus, I get free food!
2. I bought a concert ticket for the first time in my life!

1. We went to the Triple Door and had a great dinner while we watched a jazz show. I’ve never done that before!
2. I co-hosted a baby shower for a co-worker.

1. I bought myself professional orthotics as a preventative measure(I never do things like this-I always just let medical stuff slip by until it’s unavoidable and I am forced to do something about the problem)

2. I watched the entire inauguration ceremony from start to finish (I have NEVER watched any sort of political function on tv)

I want to try something new and exciting. I need to give myself something to look forward to and this is the perfect way.

(#8 on my list of resolutions for 09)

Well tried horse back riding last summer
Tried belly dancing
Taking a photography class
Looked into a raw food diet – sprouting things seem like too much work.
Joined photography club
Planted a garden in the back yard.

I’ve kept up with this for several months now and it is definitely worth doing, but sometimes it’s hard to come up with ideas when money is tight. After a while you sort of forget whether you’ve done something this month, so I’ve just decided to start writing down anything fun and different I can think of and resolving to try them all sometime soon.

There are tons of new things I could be trying if money were no object. Well, it IS an object, and I’m sick of trying to think of things to do that I don’t normally already enjoy for FREE.

I give up.

It’s a good thing I’ve got a whole month to think this one through. Maybe I should have planned ahead a bit more or at least thought about this at all before I added this goal.

Tonight the Dresden Dolls are playing at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, which I haven’t been to before. That’s new.

I’m going to try to come up with something completely new during the rest of the month, but if not, this is a damn good start.
