pyrrVizeiiynmaybe i should get serious about this.

i like working with my hands. i work for a construction company so i know all kinds of subcontractors and people who’d be willing to teach me, help me, or give me advice for how to go about it… its just i can be incredibly shy about admitting my own ignorance, and i’m also a terribly proud person and want to do it all myself. so its something that is right now in committee in one of my lil brain cells… there isn’t a storm yet, but i’m promised rain.

and really i think its a great idea. cities are rotting from the inside while people continue to expand out in the suburbia and the lush places putting up all kinds of obsinities that aren’t any more substantial than a house made out of straw. its almost like they expect to move on, and abandon a place in a few years. what happened to us as a people being a settled, stable community? thats what really gave birth to us as the mighty civilization we pride ourselves on and take for grant it these days. this whole just slapping up any old thing is reminiscent of our wandering and gathering cave men days is it not?

i’d like to try it. really. i’d like to create places for these restless souls to come and stay a while without having to build the contempary stucco places that are eyes sores to the setting around them. i’d like to go into the crime ridden gettos and really try to pick the community back up with fine lil tennant homes and big guard dogs. community centers and lil family own shoppes on the ground floor. i’d like to have bed and breakfast places maybe that also serve as charity safe houses and such. i want to know whatever happened to people caring about their neighbor and looking out for each other. i want to see with my own eyes how such a sad little neighborhood gets this way.

i’ve read up on homes going up in forclosure and repossessing. i’ve read up on people who are buidling tiny homes for those who want to live simply, or just don’t have a lot, and have no need for material things. i’ve read up on a pair of guys who build tree houses that are more than just servicable as a fort for yer kids but really are suited for inhabitation. i’d like to see these ideas come to fruit. i’d like to weave these ideas together and produce something for those people with itchy footsies to have a place to go and be, and stop destroying my world. there is plenty of space, but we have to plan it out, consider other life out there, and be patient. 6 years ago

This is a great thing to do, even with all the hassles. What I like is acknowledging that homes have history and they need to be cared for. Being able to restore a home so it can continue to make it’s own history is such a great feeling. We restore and resell homes but with the heart that we want the home to continue providing warm loving memories for years and years. 6 years ago

old homes are just sturdy and practical. restoring one to grandeur allows you to learn all the little secrets and facets of the dwelling. i mean doing it for my own castle in the sky is a must, but i’d like to do as a hobby.

i’d also like to torch all these plastic doll houses for something more substantial. but lets be honest good solid materials just aren’t in abundance these days. now i ask, why is that? 7 years ago
