Suzi_1 'What the 'Eye' Sees the mind can aquire'
Finding all the materials from my walk in wardrobe but none yet suitable to make kaftan’s with : (
How I did it: It was really exciting and fun. I re-made a skirt from a local thrift store into a cute dress. Next time I want to actually sew it and make it more creative, but for a first experience, it was great! :)
Lessons & tips: Be creative and don't let anyone put you down for your design. You are the designer and if it's different so what. You have to be different before a style can be created. If it is the same as everyone else, it won't stand out.
Resources: Thrift stores, sewing department, and creative thinking.

I’ve taken home economics and sewing classes, but never committed (serious issues with that word). When I was making things in these classes though there was peace with me and a confidence in my abilities. I’m an introvert so working alone suits me and my creative streak comes out in this activity.
Deadline: Februrary 2009
jannab setting new priorities :O
I really don’t have any idea about how making my own dress, but I am going to try it, probably in january.
I wish luck to all of you!

I’m taking a really cute, see-through white dress and I’m going to dye it. Then, I’m going to take a shirt that I absolutely love the pattern of but can’t wear and make an underlayer of sorts. So, while it’s not as ambitious as my previous project to make a dress from scratch, it will still be a challenge for me.

I don’t have much space yet, but I have the cutest pattern from Decades of Design.
i bought some patterns, and while i’m staying with my sister i have access to her sewing machine, so all i really need is the fabric but i’m so intimdated!! i haven’t used a sewing machine since i was like 10, and i made a lame little vest. a dress is so hard! i can hardly figure out the pattern dealies.
I made one at last! It’s pink and modeled after a Victoria’s Secret design. I’ve gotten compliments on how it looks and I am so happy with it although it is pieced together too delicately and will probably rip soon. Oh well. :D
