thegirlnextdork is starting from scratch and loving it
Okay, so apparently a sewing machine would really, really help with this one.
How I did it: It was really exciting and fun. I re-made a skirt from a local thrift store into a cute dress. Next time I want to actually sew it and make it more creative, but for a first experience, it was great! :)
Lessons & tips: Be creative and don't let anyone put you down for your design. You are the designer and if it's different so what. You have to be different before a style can be created. If it is the same as everyone else, it won't stand out.
Resources: Thrift stores, sewing department, and creative thinking.

Bluemoon_7 going to beat the dragon and relieve him of the treasure he holds.
I’ve taken home economics and sewing classes, but never committed (serious issues with that word). When I was making things in these classes though there was peace with me and a confidence in my abilities. I’m an introvert so working alone suits me and my creative streak comes out in this activity.
Deadline: Februrary 2009
jannab achieving many goals at the same time! :P
I really don’t have any idea about how making my own dress, but I am going to try it, probably in january.
I wish luck to all of you!
Betani is getting reaquainted with this site.
I don’t have much space yet, but I have the cutest pattern from Decades of Design.
I made one at last! It’s pink and modeled after a Victoria’s Secret design. I’ve gotten compliments on how it looks and I am so happy with it although it is pieced together too delicately and will probably rip soon. Oh well. :D
I’ve actually made a few dresses and altered even more. I made a summer tank dress when I was about 12, my Homecoming dress my Sophomore year ( i think) of HS, my Prom Dress, My friend’s wedding dress (which she sadly never got to wear :( ), and another dress for a formal dance we had in college. I’ve helped with the costuming for my college’s musical, and even made a few other articles of clothing for other people. I want to make my wedding dress eventually.
Something I’d like to do, my Mum’s pretty nifty with a sewing machine so I can get her to help me if i’m really stuck. I’d like my own home made dress to wear on holiday.
