but just for now.
I am putting this aside :[
LunacyBleeding is finding happiness.
Tomorrow is the Medieval Market & sadly I will not be going in costume. I could wear a Victorian outfit maybe but I don’t really want to!
I am sure that in the very least this event will beautifully inspiring & make me want to get onto this project asap!

The Medieval Market is very soon (February the 9th) & I’d love to go in costume if I manage to go… I need to find fabric is I am too make my own before then, it’s been the only thing holding me back. Otherwise, I might have to hire something :(

We went out in the rain to a fabric store that is having a short 20% off sale. I did not find anything TOOO inspiring but I did get some perspective on 3 of my current creative projects AND got a pattern & elastic (already have fabric) to make something for my partner for $2.50.
I think I need to go to more shops & to think about what I actually want it to look like completed.

a medieval tunic for my oldest son yesterday. Very easy pattern. I need to buy some more fabric for the contrasting cuffs and collar. Then I can finish it for him. Maybe then, I’ll be ready to start one for me. It was an easy sewing project thus far.
Done! I mean, well, it needs some tweaking yet – I want to add some more lace-holes, then re-do the hem, finish up the seams on the sleeves so I can wear them tucked back, get a better belt, add some trim, etc – but it’s now at a stage where I felt comfertable wearing it in public, ergo, I feel happy checking this goal off as complete.
I’m so proud of myself. I tried a half-dozen things I’d never done before, like dyeing cloth, working with linen, drafting my own pattern, sewing eyelets, handsewing (although that was an accident… my machine broke!), and if it’s not perfect… well, it was my first time ever attempting a project on that scale, and a bliaut is by no means the easiest of the medieval dresses to make. I learned from my mistakes – for example, slit neckholes royally mess you up when you measured your shoulder and arm lengths based an a keyhole neckline – and the next one will be better!
On that note, next – when I’m done all my tweaking – I want to try a kirtle or a cotehardie… I was given a sideless surcoat, and I need something to wear under it. Apparently whatever I wear beneath out to be fitted… I dunno what it’ll be, or how hard it’ll be to make, but I can’t wait to find out. :D
NorthernSkye making changes
now for nearly 7 years , created MANY dresses, this is my latest outfit, I do still want to have a new belly dancing outfit:) I have one cut out in brown.. it is LOVELY
I have a pattern for a 12th century bliaut sketched based on advice from some awesome SCAers and a (very) small about of my own research. Colours are picked, ideas are whirling… now I just have to clear out my old sewing projects so I can get started!
