chase a tornado

When I was five years old that movie Twister came out and I just had to see it, and once I did I just had to build my own Dorothy. Of course the closest I came was spray painting a tall cardboard box silver and writing “Dorothy I” on the side. Then I filled it with balls of aluminum foil like the sensors.

I just recently came across my DVD of Twister and had to watch it. I really love Helen Hunt, and I still really want to chase down a tornado.

This would be so frickin awesome!

I’ve been in and around them, but never actually seen one or chased one.

is expensive, but i really want to do it. I want to do it before i leave nebraska to new york, or just on a trip back. the cheapest tour i’ve heard about around here is around $1,000

I saw two tornadoes in Kansas yesterday. One was a wedge headed towards Greensburg. Thankfully that city was spared, we saw that tornadic supercell heading straight for it…
Also, at one point, we were completely surrounded by three tornadic supercells.

It was a crazy and amazing experience, to say the least! I would certainly do this again.

Even if I die I don’t care. I just want to feel the power and energy of a tornado lifting me through the air and throwing me against a wall.

Even if I don’t see an actual tornado I am going to count this goal, and call it “storm chasing.” It’s waaay too optimistic to think I’ll see a tornado. I will most likely just see some neat supercell features or other cloud features and weather stuff… I mean, I’ve never even seen a wall cloud! Anyways, I leave in two days and this is going to be the trip of a lifetime. I’ve never been out in the central/high plains area, and we’re going sightseeing the first few days because there probably won’t be any severe weather until next Monday… can’t wait!

I’m set to go storm chasing in May… so hopefully I’ll get lucky and see a tornado. Even if I don’t, there are definitely a lot of other awesome storm features that I think will make it totally worth going!

Was about 8 years old when I first saw a tornado…but this was only on TV. When I was watching it, the way it ripped through buildings, moved in such a destructive but “dance-like” way, just made me thought that I had to see one of these.
I was about 10 when I first learn’t that people actually chase tornadoes. This is when fascination turned to obsession. To this day [i’m 16 now] i am still obsessed with tornadoes and wanting to chase them. I’ve never seen one as in NZ there are barely any…but I hope to move overseas to a place where there is many when I am older and turn my passion for this into a career.

Because I used to dream about them all the time.
