I can basically cook stove top “La Choy Beef Chow Mein”, as long as it’s from the can.

I’ve added something to my skills. I can cook mashed potatoes on the stove now – very well!
(that’s about it)

I can cook air-popped popcorn and buttered noodles.
I really need to get on this!

And it turned out really well!

“smashed” (different than mashed) yukon gold potatoes with garlic and olive oil. Again, a simple recipe, but new for me, and helps me practice. they turned out delicious, too, I must say! (although I did cut off a chunk of index finger trying to cut the tatoes into wedges. I’m on bandage #9, and it’s still bleeding through, but slowing down, i think—3.5 hours later)
All this about trying to cook better is getting me to try new types of vegetables and such I would not have thought of otherwise.

I have made my first potato salad ever (a big feat for me, sadly) with blue potatoes. It was good, but definitely could be better. Something to work on.
I made vegetarian stuffed peppers for the first time tonight. Again, pretty simple, but it’s practice! It’s also something new for me, both in cooking and eating. I used all simple ingredients that I had in the fridge, and it came out very tasty! I’d like to experiment with these a bit more as i practice techniques. There are so many ways to make these….
I’ve been looking for cooking classes. If I didn’t have to taste the food, I’d take a regular class, but since I am a veg, I’d rather take a veg cooking class, but having trouble finding them in my area. Bummer.

I always have to throw things together for myself. Over the past several years, I’ve been pushing boxed foods, etc out of my life and actually trying to cook. I throw things together pretty well (prepared food with fresh food), and I’ve learned some awesome (quick and relatively simple) (vegetarian) recipes with all fresh ingredients. I want to get better at it because I love being able to make good meals from fresh ingredients—especially when they actually taste good.
I want to be able to actually make a (vegetarian) lasagne that comes out like a lasagne (haha) and make something for others that won’t make me concerned about their reactions.
I keep working at it. Practice might not make perfect, but I believe it will make me better at the cooking thing!
I made a 6 – 7 litre pot of soup yesterday with my housemate! It took over 3 hours to cook, but it tastes amazing. There’s around 12 vegtables in it plus various seasonings and such. Cooking is great, ya hear?
I moved out of my parents house there over a month ago now, so I’ve been cooking for myself. You get better out of necessity. I made a particularly nice and satisfying Chili con carny this week. Everyone loves my food
