so for those of you who have been following…my training was non-existent for the most part. yet i still finished with a time of 65:20, placing me 15,991 out of over 50,000 runners yesterday. needless to say, i hurt, but i’m smiling! it was a beautiful run, and i really enjoyed it! when things got tough and i wanted to slow down or walk, i told myself, “woman, you pushed out two babies with large heads (once without an epidural)...you can keep running, dammit!” and it worked! yay, me!

lovely – herons on the beach, stanley park tulips, and burrard bridge all to yourself!
my training, if you could call it that, has gotten better. but at this point, i feel like i’m just going to wing it. i’ve been on a few long runs (approx. 10K) during the past few weeks, inconsistently…but i’ve managed to do it with some respectability. i’m just praying for beautiful weather, and if not that…no rain! please pray to the rain gods to stay away on sunday!
ok, i’ve been super shitty about training, and the race is in one week and three days. bad, bad!
admittedly, i’ve been sucking ass at training for the sun run. but last sunday, we were blessed with gorgeous weather, so i decided to give it a go around stanley park, which i assumed to be only 5k. i ran…and i ran…and i ran some more. came home after running forever around the park, to find out that the damn thing is 10.5K around! in spite of the pain and my inability to walk down stairs for the three days after, i felt good that i was able to run in blissful ignorance around the park!
i’m trying to rope someone into doing this with me, so we can train together and stuff….hopefully, it will stop raining someday so i can actually try out the course…or run in the rain. i never ran a formal race before, other than track in high school, which i sucked in, so this should be interesting…
Started training this week. Even if I can’t do the run I will still get to know my way around downtown.
