This is going really well, even though I actually fell last week. I am surpised by what I remember – most in theory, but quite enough in practice as well. The teacher even suggested competing again. Personally, I think I am still very far from that, but it is just fun and a great way to spend my time (and money).
How to start riding again
How I did it: Asked around everywhere for a good place. Just went and started lessons again. It is incredible how easy it was to get back into it. Muscle memory is an amazing thing, it just works automatically once you get back on that horse. The instructor is really nice as well, trying lot's of stuff, even getting me back into jumping, which I was never good in to start with.
After just a few weeks, I have already been asked by a women whether I want to ride her horse. Now I don't even have to pay anymore.
It makes such a difference to my overall well-being - both physically and mentally. I don't have to think about anything, but me and the horse and can forget about anything else. It's just great.
Lessons & tips: Ask around for places and check them out whether they appeal to you. Also look at the horses etc.

I had my second lesson last saturday and I can’t believe I left it for so long. It is pure joy. It doens’t allow me to think of anything but myself and the horse in harmony (or not) and really leaves all the thoughts of reality outside.
my inspiration to start riding again was introducing my then 6 year old son to the joys of a horse…three years later, he’s a pretty good rider (just started cantering alone)...i love the feeling of being up in the saddle again, although I’m not as fearless as I was back in my teens!!! :))) GO FOR IT!
Well, one of them. With the dreadful winter months it’s hard to motivate myself. I suspect this goal won’t be fulfilled until it’s warmer.
