but I ran my 5k course in 20:28. Not quite the sub-20 I was shooting for…but I’m getting closer. I ran the first mile in 6:19, but my pace suffered over the next 2. I need to work on this.

How I did it: i actually went down to the running room and signed up for a 10K class. They take you from start to finish and give advice on nutrition, injury, extreme weather running et. Unfortunately half way through i did get injured. it was bad enough that i had to stop going to the class. I really wanted to complete a race so once my injury healed i started running on my own. i still went to the running room occasionally since they have free open r… Read how I did it…

Gusty right now…but I’m hoping it will die down so I can get my run in. Don’t want to wimp out on what I’m shooting for when I go…
in September I will do. In the meanwhile, I’m going out tomorrow on a nice 5k course and will let it all hang out. Going for the sub-20… Who knows when or if I’ll ever do it. The older I get the harder it is to push my limit. So wish me luck! :)
for a local 10k to do this summer. But I’ll do a 5k next Sunday. I ran a 21:21 today, so I’m slowly inching my way down as far as speed is concerned. Hope I can improve upon that next week.
6.25 miles in 45:13 today.
First mile in 6:54
First 5k in 22:00
Second 5k in 23:13
I’m only doing about half the mileage (or even less) than I want to do per week, but such is the way it is with my work hours and energy level during the week.
This run felt good, but I’d really like my fitness level to be better when I race. I don’t like to breath as hard as I do when I’m not in the best shape.
what’s available in the area. I did 11 miles (just over 17 1/2 km) today and know a 10k would be easily done on race day. I just want to do it at 40 minutes or near that. Don’t know if my ability is there yet.

On May 3, 2009, I am running a REAL 10k race, not a 10k race on my own.

I ran it in 1:25:17 but I finished!
