This is what I want to do:
Don’t just get in shape for track and lose it over a couch and three bags of salt and vinegar chips. Stay in shape. Stay in shape so that when cross-country season rolls around and so does that dreaded training calendar you can take it with a smile.
How are you going to do this?
1. Find a winter fitness program to work with, one that includes treadmill and indoor track work, yoga, and other extra workouts.
2. Stick to it. Even in two weeks when you want to give up and have three honors projects due the next day. Just go to the track, run, and get it over with. You will feel better.
3. Eat better. You can do it, you know. Just do it. Eat what coach says, and don’t eat just because the neighbors brought over a batch of cookies. Eat when you’re hungry, eat lots of protein and vitamins. Oh, and stop lying to coach about those iron pills you are “taking every day”. Just swallow them, its only once a day. 13 months ago
