How to be a mom

 "The best thing I have ever done in my life."
How I did it: Obviosly it's not a hard thing to accomplish because people have babies everyday. But for me the circumstances were a little different. I'm only 22 but when I was 15 doctors told me I probably wouldn't be able to have children. It was heartbreaking. I love kids, my niece and nephews have been spoiled by me for years. So last year when I found out I was pregnant I was in total shock. I was so happy but also scared. You never know what kind of parent you will be until you hold that tiny baby in your arms. (then there are a whole different set of worries) My son is almost four months old and today was my first day away from him, and when I came home and he heard my voice he got excited and smiled and cried for me. It melted my heart. That was worth all the 9 months of inconviences and the 16 hours of labor. Lessons & tips: Make sure you are ready and have lots of outside help. Babies are a 24 hour job. Luckily my husband works and I get to stay home, but at the end of the day I am still ready for him to take over for a while.

i really wanna be a mom. i absolutely adore children and have worked at day cares, after school cares, and summer camps for as long as i can remember… my first time, a total accepted accident, made me realize i wanted it however that ended not so pretty in miscarriage and depression back in september. exactly a month later (october 30th) i had my daughter’s name put on my foot in memory of what could have been and as a marker of the end of my depression that i was determined not to let kill me. i still cry sometimes but i know it was best that it happened the way it did as it made me grow up a little more and realize i had just a little more living to do before bringing a child into the world. i do plan to try again within the next 2 years and hopefully i will be ready then and things will work out the way i plan.

this will be a ways down the road, but i’m starting to get ready now by preparing my body…getting to a healthy weight, exercising regularly, eating better, etc.
