Own a dog

The dog I grew up with is 15 years old, and I have had her since the 7th grade. I have no words for how much she means to me and how much she has enriched my life.

I no longer live at home with my parents (who have her) and I would like to own a dog of my own. However I live in an apartment and have a busy life and I don’t think it would be fair to the dog to have one now.

What I do know is that when it is time I will get my dog from the Humane Society – we rescued the current one from there on her last day of time before she would be put down. So many good, good dogs need loving homes, it is simply the best place to get a pet from.

After I graduate college next spring and go to grad school, I want to get a puppy! I’ve been dying to have one and that will be my graduation present to myself :)

she is a German Sheppard/husky mix, and she loves when i take her for walks.

I plan on getting a beagle as soon as I finish college and am on my own.
Beagles were first brought to my attention by Captain Archer’s beagle Porthos (Star Trek: Enterprise). The more I’ve looked into them, they have grown to be my favorite dog and I can’t wait to have one of my own.
I know they can be prone to illness, which is why I’m waiting until I’m out of school before getting one. I want to be able to handle the responsibility of a dog.

On the first of May we welcomed Zoltan Campbell into our lives. Born on the 26th of March, Zoltan a black toy Labradoodle is our new baby. After lot’s of back and forth with my husband about the right time to get a dog we finally decided to take the plunge and become dog owners. He is named after Zoltan from the TV show ‘Dude Where’s My Car’ due to the white patch on his neck looking like a ‘Z’ (ZOLTAN *hand symbol”). He is an awesome dog. So playful and friendly. He loves people. He also loves other dogs and is so boisterious that he shows up our friends dogs including a full size Golden Retriever named Buddy. :)

We have many years of enjoyment to look forward with our new family member Zoltan… GOAL ACHIEVED!! :D

While we were on our mini-vacay, we checked out a store that has many different breeds of puppies. It was SO fun and hard to resist playing with them all! Although they didn’t have a Boston Terrier, they did have puppies that were part Boston Terrier and part Pug, and they were super cute and good-natured! The puppy we held didn’t bark once and had features like a Boston Terrier but different coloring. I could totally be happy with this mix!

I really really want a dog! I really want a puppy but my conscience keeps telling me to adopt a dog from a shelter, which I will probably do. I’m just waiting til I can afford a dog and everything that comes w/ it.

but i am longing to live with this dog…Dobermann!

My husband and I decided mutually on getting a Boston Terrier instead of a Mini Pin :D Their coats are easy to maintain and the biggest plus is that they make good family dogs but are also protective. Since we are thinking of starting a family in the not so distant future, I really wanted to ensure that the kind of dog we get won’t be too “yappy” or unsuitable around babies/small kids. My husband also likes the breed! We’re hoping to get our dog a few months or so after getting our house :D

I go walking at Town Lake (Ladybird Lake?!) I see tons of people walking their dogs.

I wish I could join them in the Supercool Dog Owner Club. And yes, I know being in law school is not the time to have a dog.
