play in a marching band

I realised we’re never going to get a marching band because it’s more of an American thing than a British thing..so we won’t get that in our school. But I’m in the brass band and it’s close enough (compleeetely different, I know, but close enough)..and it’s pretty ace.

Any brass band is good fun, I think. Although marching band would still be even more fun.

I’ve been in marching band for 3 years. Worth every second of my time. The people are amazing (well most) and you always have fun memories from band camp. No, it’s not like the movie. Being in marching band is labeled as “geeky” but so what, it’s really not so geeky after all.

marching band is for losers, and i can say that because i was in marching band, and i’m a loser. start a real band people will like you better. i was in marching band for four years and before that i was in middle school pep band. the only thing i learned is that drummers are always horney and trumpet players are always jerks.

yay for pit!

today was the memorial parade down main street and MAN… AN EIGHT LAYER BAND UNIFORM…AND IT WAS 95 DEGREES. This is definately worth it because suddenly you’re this important part of a community and people clap and cheer and watch, and wish they could do it. Little kids get all excited… and people weave in and out of us while were marching and give us water… people we don’t even know.

It’s like another family.

But I tell ya, the second it’s over, that uniform is off and we’re all screaming.

For the past two years, I’ve been a summer member of the Truro Marching Band. We get together once a week to practice and then we play in different parades around Nova Scotia, and even in PEI. Visit their website at http://truroconcertband.ca
