I suffer from intractable pain, but I wont quit 7 months ago

I was a nurse, was rear-ended on the interstate, and now am disabled. I have numerous health concerns, thankfully I’m stable. However, I’m too stable I rarely leave my house. When I do, it takes considerable effort and wears me out. I now walk with a cane, but due to the pain have trouble sitting, or standing and walking very far. I’m married but often am alone for hours. I’m not a whiner, I keep busy, reading, praying etc. But I admit I’m lonely. I want to give of myself to people again. My eyes tear up at this. But I refuse to quit. Everybody has some challenge their dealing with. I would appreciate anyone chimming in. To offer suggestions, or just friendly insight.

Hello nursehealer and deezysmith 3 years ago

Hello, not sure if this is the right title for my goal, right now I’m working on getting the gear I need, and I’ve just heard I am getting a chair (will help me stand up and reclines and supports me) and an adjustable bed so I’m really happy about that, but more than that I wanted to say hello and keep at it

Thankful for This Set of Wheels 4 years ago

One of the small things I’m most thankful for is my recently acquired set of wheels (a folding wheelchair). I’ve just had to avoid most public functions because of my limitations. I can only stand for a few minutes before excrutiating back pain begins to grow exponentially by the minute, and I can only walk short distances before the pain immobilizes me. While counting my blessings, let me count this new set of wheels right at the top. Now I can go shopping in stores that don’t have those motorized carts and enjoy the shopping experience with family. I can go to church and movies and restaurants without worrying that I’ll have to stand in line and not be able to endure the pain.

Today the chair was more than a luxury. It was an absolute must just to get through my work day due to hip pain. I have hope that some changes in my life will improve my quality of life; but for today, I’m most thankful for this lovely chair that fits in the trunk of my car.
