How to give up red meat

was the last time I ate red meat. I had given it up earlier that year several times but caved, but this last time, I gave it up and haven’t had it since. It was hard at first, and I used to really miss chili fries and In n’ Out burgers, but the grilled cheese at In n’ Out is just as good now to me, and as for chili fries, you can get nearly anything made from turkey instead of beef. And honestly, these days seeing steak whether it’s on TV or I’m serving it at work, it actually kind of grosses me out.

I went many years without eating red meat. I swear it wasn’t a big deal. It was really easy to do then. I can honestly say that I felt better and healthier. I know it’s only been a few days since I gave up red meat once again but just because I forbid myself to have I want it(It’s funny how the mind works). Anyway, I really think I will do good. I just have to stick to this and make sure I plan ahead what Im gonna eat so I don’t give in.
Wish me luck

Today is my anniversary:
it has now been three years since I gave up red meat.

I have never questioned my choice
and I’m not about to go back to eating red meat.
(In fact, I probably will try to give up white meat as well, if I can. Some day.)

I want to try this, just for the health reasons. If I succeed, who knows maybe I’ll give up other things that are unhealthy to consume as well. This will be a tough one, seeing as I love to cook with it as well as eat it.We’ll see. Also in the mix are a reduced sodium diet as well.Wish me luck.

who knew? this is one of the best things I’ve ever done. I feel so great. I’m getting all the appropriate nutrients, protein, vitams-in their organic form, I’m against vitamin supplements-less processing is more health to me. but my digestion is so nice, I don’t have a huge appetite, I fill up with about a half a plate of good food, prepared to nourish and taste good, I’m satisfied. and the weight is just dropping off me. If I’m hungry I eat, fruit, veggies, nuts and raisins; I’m getting the taste of food like I never did. I have no desire for meat, none. this was a good goal. it’s been a month. I’ll say I’ve accomplished it after three months.

degree of difficulty 2 years ago

this isn’t so hard at all, mostly I’ve replaced meat with beans, fish, milk, yogurt. I ate chicken at a party this weekend, but other than that I haven’t had any meat. I really don’t miss it.

I’m seriously considering eliminating meat from my diet.
  • I need to research alternative sources of protein.
  • I’ll start by not eating red meat
    • I’ll do this for three weeks, that’s how long it takes for something to become a habit.
  • If I succeed with that then I’ll move to elminate pork, then chicken.

Remember 2 years ago
  1. to stop at the market and buy fresh fruits and vegetables
  2. don’t wait til I’m starving to shop/eat
  3. eat foods that taste good as well as nourish
  4. eat a variety of foods
  5. when I want a sweet or salty thing, ask myself: can I find this in it’s most natural state? If I have to have the white coconut cake or bag of doritos, then eat small
  6. congratulate myself for eating right

Ask for advice: Get help from people who've accomplished this goal
