    but harder.
I didn’t like it too much, but I think to be fair, I should give it another chance – we were renting the snowshoes at an event to benefit juvenile diabetes research, so we were just using groomed trails. From what I hear, it’s a lot more fun and challenging actually going out into the woods, trudging through deep snow. Still, a cool experience.

    Sounds fun 13 months ago

In the winter there are groups that you can carpool with that will take you to where the snow is around here. Could be fun.

    Snowshoeing 2 years ago

For the first time this past winter I went showshoeing. My friend was well equipped with everything from clothes to walkie talkie for my pocket in case I got lost.

It was very fun, we snowshoed for a few hours and it was way better than I had anticipated. Being off trails and going through the evergreen trees where no one had gone before was very pleasing.

I was worried about not being able to keep up, she does this stuff for work but I got used to the wierd way of transporting oneself in a short period of time.

I should have taken a camera is my only regret. I think the smart thing about that day was that I recognized when enough was enough and we started back instead of soldiering on and then ending up over-tired and injured.

Would definitely recommend snowshoeing and I hope to go again next winter!

I wish that I was dating Hugh Hefner. Then, I would have him create a snowy hill in my backyard. The Girls Next Door have all the luck. Guess I’ll have to wait until next winter. :(

    The Crags 2 years ago

We spent a few hours making our way to the trailhead for The Crags, all the while being passed by cross-country skiers heading for more challenging territory and other, more fit snowshoers. A fair number of hikers willing to stomp around in the deep snow were present as well.

We made it about halfway on the out-and-back, and turned back because of time constraints, but we were not as energetic as we would have liked. In any case, the weather was super spiffy and the scenery was great even though we missed most of the good stuff by turning around early. Next time…

We rented a set of nice MSR shoes from REI, but will in all liklihood buy a set for next season.

Wow, so much fun. Went to Sangre de Cristo mountains in Santa Fe. Bright, sunny day. The aspen against a sea of white snow. I will definitely go again.
