Who you meet is all important 9 months ago

I’m a furry, but I don’t have the gut to meet other furries in my country. In summer 2007 I went on a trip to North America on my own, and decided I was going to see some furries then. It also felt just plain cool and very “modern” to meet someone from the Internet. :)

Meeting people from the Internet in person was fun but not an incredible revelation or anything. It will likely be more rewarding if you know each other better beforehand than I did. I just arranged a one-shot meetup with some random furries I knew very little about, so it was a bit of a mixed bag.

.. I have known this guy for almost 2 years over the internet!
He seems like someone I would hang out in my room in and play the X-Box with. I have had a crush on him for almost a year and still trying to get over it but I’d love to meet him as a friend. My parents are pretty cool with this, (:!
I would post his picture and name but for all I know he could be on this site, too!

He is by far, the sweetest person I have ever spoken to. We have been talking for just about three years and I feel like I have known him for my entire life. I’ve sent him gifts that he shows off to his friends to this day. When my father passed away ten months ago, we started talking less. About three weeks ago, we spoke again and it was as though we had never left one another. I had a smile on my face, from ear to ear throughout the whole conversation.

We’ve discussed me visiting him. He lives in Kentucky and I in Arizona; so it’s quite a distance. :( As soon as I can save up enough money, I’m flying there.

Definately worth doing, turned out to be a turning point in my life when I did finally meet this person.
    Life couldn’t be better.

Just be *careful* when you do this.. 3 years ago

I have met some pretty twisted people who thought since we’d known each other a week online, that that entitled them to do things that take time. Just be wary of going to people’s houses, I’m not saying someone is always bad, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

    Stay safe!

Take Care But Go For It 3 years ago

I’d urge anyone who’s meeting someone they only know from online to take a care with it, some of the usual rules of presentation of self in everyday life dont apply to online contact so when you do meet them they could be very different or just plain nuts and dangerous

that said I’m part of an online fan club for a Canadian author, have been for years, its been a great way to meet like minded people with similar interests and I’ve met a couple of them on vacation trips which have been a lot of fun and I’ve got a lot of really great memories

I found roommates online for the summer I moved to Denver. It was definitely worth it, convenience-wise, but they were a little crazy.

I did it! We only hung out once so I can’t swear by it, but she doesn’t seem to be psychotic or anything. We’ve talked on the phone a bunch and I think it’s pretty safe to say that she’s moved from being an Internet friend to an IRL friend. It’s something I’d like to do again… when I meet the next, right someone.
