"One of the most amazing nights of my life."
How I did it: I don't know if I should be giving this example, as it's rather naughty. But I had been corresponding with a certain someone online for a long time, and we had had numerous phone calls. It started out as a confusing thing because he would say he liked me and then take it back and it was all very fuddled, but eventually it was all cleared up that I liked him and he liked me and we began a relationship. We would talk every night on the phone for hours and whenever we could get online, we would, to talk to each other. We rapidly fell in love. It was sheer luck that he lived only an hour and a half away from me, and one day he decided to screw it all ('it all' being the fact that nobody knew about our relationship except my friends) and come visit me. He left without permission though his parents knew he was coming and he drove all the way up here in the middle of the night. I talked him through finding our meeting spot on the phone, and then got dressed, freshened up, and snuck out my window to meet him. It was strange and rather scary at first, but it quickly became a natural thing as we walked around the neighborhood, played in the park, and all other sorts of lovers' type things to do. After about four hours it was time for him to leave, and it was really really hard to let him go, but I had to, and I did. I snuck back up to my house, got a couple hours of sleep, and woke up bright and early again to participate in an all-day debate tournament. XD
We continued talking for a long time, meeting twice more: once in the same situation as the first, and once in daylight with my friend Megan, who wanted to interrogate him--that time I got dropped off at the movie theatre under the pretense of going with a friend.
We were together for a total of something like 11 months, near the end of which I began to fall out of love with him, and not too long ago, I ended the relationship. I am currently in love with someone else but I don't regret a moment of it.
Lessons & tips:
- Don't just go meeting random people. You should know someone very well, and for quite a while, before taking this step.
- Make sure somebody knows where you are. Right before I met him I texted my friends that I was doing so, just in case something happened.
- Have a clear destination / meeting spot / time. Once he came almost all the way up here mistakenly while I had fallen asleep. Make sure both of you know where you're going, how you'll get there, and when you'll be there.
Resources: Just time, really. That and a deep knowledge and connection of the person. I would not have agreed to meet just anybody from the internet.
