Buy more DVDs

This goal is kind of open ended, but I’ve been buying more DVDs lately so I suppose I can cross it off the list.

Unfortunatley Zavvi (The kilkenny branch is my main source for DVDs) has gone into administration so that’s that rescouce gone. Sigh… And I’ve just disocovered amazon charge an extra 25% to deliver DVDs (I don’t know if this is just to Ireland or what, but it’s annoying.)

I love buying DVDs, but I live in the middle of nowhere (practically) so there’s not a great selection, especaily of the weird movies I’m into, plus I like buying things impulsively.

I think I’ll sart ordeing stuff from amazon.

Specifically:

- Stand-up comedy that I can watch when feeling low e.g. Ricky Gervais, Alan Carr, Jimmy Carr, Russell Brand

- Series of things that I’ve seen that I can have forever e.g. The Mighty Boosh, Sex and the City, Friends, Scrubs, Flight of the Conchords

I now rend DVDs from an online company instead. It works out a lot cheaper (about 70p per DVD I think) and you can always rent that same DVD if you feel like seeing multiple times. I do very occasionally buy DVDs of movies I really like, like Lord of the Rings. But fewer DVDs means less clutter in the house, less possessions tying me down!

it’s so much cheaper, especially when you don’t really watch repeats.

i only own like 6 movies. and i don’t even really want to watch like 4 of them.

I walked past some DVDs in Pathmark. There was a small rack of them. However I could not bring myself to buy a DVD at a grocery store. I didn’t even look through them.

I haven’t bought a DVD in the longest time. I ordered some Asian films on eBay a while ago, Ichi The Killer and Tetsuo: The Iron Man. My friend works near a kiosk in the mall where they sell Asian movies, I can get any DVD for $10.00 and I’m not taking advantage of it.
