I enlisted in the Army in 2005 and my first duty station was in Korea. They were always having 5k runs on post on the weekends. My Commander (a female) challenged all the females in the company to attend and finish one of the runs. Running has never been my strong point, but I didn’t want to be the only one left out. I finished last (but still under 30 minutes!) but it didn’t matter because I finished… And I got a shirt to show for it, lol… Definitely well worth it. Now I can say that I actually did something…

How I did it: For anyone serious about wanting to complete a 5k in under 30 minutes, the trick is quite simple: Run and run often. Actually, a 30 min 5k is just under 9 miles per hour. I prefer to run with fixed bpm music and this pace would be somewhere are 145-150 beats per minute (shameless plug: The Podrunner podcast changed my whole style of running/training: www.podrunner.com).Anyway, this was a good goal for me to e… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I bought tennis shoes and put one foot in front of the other! I had decided that I wanted to start running again, after running 7 years earlier in high school. I used to love running, and I wanted to get back into it. I bought some shoes and started training.About a month later, I went to my first race. This was my first 5k, and I drove 3 1/2 hours round trip to go to this particular 5k..since it was a benefit for Uganda, and I have a… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I started jogging three miles a night three or four nights a week right around New Year's Day. The Cowtown 5K was Fab. 28th, and I ran the whole thing without walking any of it. My goal was under 30 minutes, so imagine my delight when I crossed the finish line and saw 27:34 on the clock. My chip time ought to be a little better than that... Read how I did it…

I’ve signed up for “Sean’s Run from Autism,” a benefit for the Autism Society of Oregon on April 25, 2009. I’m very passionate about the issues people with disabilities face, especially because my brother has autism. I can’t think of a better 5K that I want to participate in!
My first 5K was “Portland’s First Run 2009”, which is at midnight on New Year’s. I ran it in 35 minutes, and my goal is to beat this time at the 5K in April. Being able to say that I’ve run a 5K has been an incredible achievement largely because when I was two, most of my left foot was cut off by a lawn mower. Running can be a bit of a struggle with my heavy prosthesis, a metal athletic brace, and the blisters and sores that come from them. But it’s all worth it after a long run: pride twitters through my blood, expands my lungs, and slides down my face, neck, and back.
Currently, my plan is to run three days a week (with varying distances and speeds), bike to work at least three days a week, and go to at least two gym classes each week (one is a weight lifting class). I also need to make sure I’m fueling my body with good stuff (I have a weakness for desserts and breads)!
I can’t wait for the day when I will be able to say that I not only have run a 5K, but that I can run a 5K in under 30 minutes and I did it for a cause I sincerely support. I’m hoping April 25 will be that day.
I ran the Bare as You Dare 5K at Bluebonnet Naturist Resort last year in 37 minutes last October with very little training or prep. I’d like to shave ten minutes off that time.

35 minutes to run 5k. I hope to run 6k in April and participate in a running event that involves running around the city’s outer canals (6.5k)... At least the weather will be better then!
I’ve already ran two 5k, both of them in more than 40 minutes. I wish to run in less than 30 so I can start running the 10k runs with my friends that run for longer than I do.

I set a goal for running a 5k in less than 30 minutes and so help me I’m going to accomplish it some day! Dang, I sooo wanted 35 minutes to be good enough but my conscience won’t let me cheat on this goal.

I ran the 5k Stuffing Strut yesterday and ended up with a run time of 35:36. I know it’s not under 30 minutes, but it will have to do. I so want to be finished with this goal that I’m willing to cheat to mark it as complete.
I started running about 5 months ago and my current 5K time is about 34 minutes. good luck out there to everyone else with this goal!!
I am going to try 3 runs + 2 cross-training workouts per week. My running goal for now will be to increase my mileage (right now I’m only running 5-6 miles a week). Today – heading off to the gym to walk uphill on the treadmill at 15% incline.

I ran my 2nd 5K today and my goal was anything under 30 minutes. My official time was 30:26. never thought I’d cry over 26 seconds but I did. There is another 5k this weekend, maybe the 3rd time will be the charm.
