Ivymere
had a great Friday and Saturday
I’m way excited!
I’m already accepted to another school in SF so I’ll be moving after I graduate with my BA in Hawaii. After my degree in SF, I am going to be working for a few months in Europe, since that’s as long as the visa lasts. I can’t wait because I spent 5 months in England just earlier this year and it was amazing. I’d love to work in England, Scotland, or Greece. :) Following that, I hope to get my TEFL certificate and then head to China to teach for a year. After that, the sky’s the limit! :D Hopefully it’s something along the lines of starting on my career.

I’ve figured it out. Now it’s up to my portfolio to get me there.

...or not to go to BC. That is a question.
So I got into Boston College’s theology program, right?
I’m terrified I’m throwing myself into a situation full of crazy liberals where I won’t learn anything theologically orthdox. But, BC is a great choice, career-wise. I don’t know what Adam’s doing next year, so I’m trying not to let that influence my decision. I don’t want to make my parents pay for a program I’m not going to like! I don’t know what to do! Opinion?

Anyone who knows me “in real life” will tell you that I am VERY indecisive. Decisions are NOT my thing. So something like this is gonna kill me. Hence why I need to start thinking concretely about it…and this seems like a good forum to do so.
Options I’m currently considering:
1) Straight into grad school. Problems: finances, don’t know where I’d go, don’t know what I want to do. I’m almost positive (decisions again) that eventually I do want to get an advanced degree, I just don’t know when.
2) Finding a job. Problem: Don’t know what I want to do or where I want to work. This would be ideal for saving money. I need to save money for grad school eventually, things like an apartment/house and a car, and I really want to contribute some to my sister and brother’s college funds. Jodie starts her senior year in high school the year after I graduate, and Phillip will be a freshman in high school that year.
3) Teach for America. Currently my favorite option, and by that I mean I’m weighting it slightly ahead of the others. Problem: I definitely need to work on saving money, and this is really not a good way to do that.
4) The Peace Corps. Would probably be better for my International Affairs resume than Teach for America. I’ve heard good stories and I’ve heard bad stories. I think it would be an awesome experience, though I don’t know how well I’d handle it, and I’m almost certain my parent’s couldn’t handle it. Dunno.
5) Take the Foreign Service Exam. I’ve heard it’s bitchin hard, and it would take much prep work on my part.
6) Some sort of intensive language program or something else educational but not exactly grad school. Problem: This could ONLY happen with major scholarships/fellowships.
So yeah. Those are the options I’m currently weighing. Knowing myself, this list will probably grow before it shrinks.
