scan all my family photos

Just been counting and I have scanned 177 Baby Pics of my sister and I, 223 Childhood pics, 7 other general pics. That’s a total of 347 photos! Not bad eh? I am just going to keep going. Need to just do it without thinking about how much there is to do. That’s what makes it overwhelming and puts me off completely!
I have also emailed all these photos to my sister and saved them to folders on my laptop. I am going to now put the origional photos into acid-free albums to keep them safe and have them handy when I want to look at them! I am chipping away at it, there is a bit of a dent!

Just got a whole lot more, the task is so overwhelming, I can barely think about it. First thing I think I will do is sort all of them out including the negatives and then put them into albums. I can then make some sense out of them and they will be safer. Then I can start scanning them, page by page. Perhaps I can do one album page per day or something (not sure if this will be achievabe, but it’s a start to getting my head around this….).

Sent Graeme and email asking if he knows where I can get access to a scanner or if there is a scanner I can borrow.

I’m saving them to flickr (yay!) Such memories! I find that I have a really easy time remembering dates and circumstances, and that everyone in my family is enthusiastic about filling in the gaps.

I scanned my mom and her sisters’ childhood photos and gave them each a disc of the photos for Christmas. I also gave my grandparents a copy. The family had so much fun looking at the pictures together at Christmas. My aunt called me a few days later to tell me it was one of the nicest gifts she’d ever received. She also said that they put a copy of the disc in my grandparents’ safety deposit box because it was that valuable to the family.

Now I have my granparents more recent albums and my childhood pictures left to scan. My goal is to finish this by next Christmas.
