Worth doing!

It was what was available in my library. And it was good. :) I think I even cried. Rushdie uses beautiful language, in a more uncouth way than Nabokov…Anyway, I liked it, and I’ll probably read more.

Probably “Midnight’s Children”—even though I think “Shame” is a much better book, there’s something about a book written partially about childhood – in the same place where you grew up! – which always speaks to you somewhat intimately. I love how “Shame” jumps around between being a book on Pakistan, a book on a book on Pakistan, a book on religion and culture and people and even shame – all without skipping a beat. But I’ve only read those and “Ground Beneath Her Feet” (which I thought was cute), so I can’t wait to go find some more!
