I may not have entirely enjoyed it at the time, but the further away from it I get, the more I look forward to running another ultra. 50 miles was incredible. I don’t think I’m finished though, I might go for a 100 miler. 50 was a good test, but I know I can do more.

2 weeks to JFK. Struggled last two miles of MCM, otherwise felt strong. Slightly concerned about ability to finish 50 miles, but I think I’ll be fine. I have no choice. I don’t want to be a quitter, don’t want to be one of the very few to not finish.
Ever since I ran my first marathon I have toyed with the idea of going longer. I recently read Ultramarathon Man. Dean Karnazes is sick, but it does make me want to try a 50. I downloaded a training plan from http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,5033,s6-51-55-0-7556,00.html
It’s very workable. I’m not sure if I want to set a goal for next year or not. We’ll see how this summer goes.
I don’t have a timeline for this one, but I know that the Trail Mix 50k is pretty much right in my back yard and I’ve done the 25k which is two loops of the course (rather than 4), so I think in a couple of years I’ll be giving this a shot.
