well, i’ve gotten to step one – get a hu qin… i’m picking it up over spring break and we’ll see where to go from there. i’m excited! the only thing i’m worried about is i don’t know whether i’ll be able to procure a teacher here, so i’ll have to self-study, and that might take more energy than i can devote. so we’ll see.

hahaha please if anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. I just bought an erhu online. I know very little about playing the erhu….the videos on youtube are ok, but I can’t even get it to make a sound in the first place. How much do I have to rosin the bow? where does the bridge go?

I simply love the erhu. I learned it well enough to perform in a Chinese vs. American baseball game—I performed our national anthem on the “chinese violin”, and a chinese guy performed their national anthem on a european violin! It was a wonderful experience :)

Not sure if this helps. I found some erhu fingering for different keys. Hope this helps.

I got my erhu yesterday and was able to get it set up and play basic notes. Does anyone know of online resources for music or instruction?
