I’ve seen Broadway shows on tour, but have never been to NYC – and it’s kind of silly because I’m close enough that I could do a day trip – I’m just too scared.
How to see a Broadway Show on Broadway!
How I did it: I am apart of a dance studio where we were fortunate enough to get to go to New York City and one of the events was to see Hairspray on Broadway.

having traveled to NYC for the past four years or so, have been meaning to go see a broadway show esp as I’ve had years of seeing plays both amateur and professional in london for my UK job. So I was thrilled to be invited to see Morgan Freeman, Frances McDormand and Peter Gallagher in ‘The Country Girl’ directed by Mike Nichols.. what a thrill, what a cast! and what a way to dive in to see my first show….

I was in the orchestra pit seats for Chicago when it came through town, I saw a show in Branson, MO that was sort of an abridged conglomeration of several shows, and I have seen countless other Broadway-esque performances in many many theatres. But I want to see a bonafide Broadway show on Broadway in NYC someday. So that is my goal.
Yesterday was my 30th birthday, and my best friend gave me a really great gift. She gave me a piece of paper with a dragon and a crystal ball on it, with the words “choose your destiny”. Among my choices was going to see a show in NYC! She’s so clever (since she knows about this list.)
Now I have to decide WHAT show to see. Oh boy…
i’ve seen two on broadway, hairspray & spamalot.
then i saw many broadway shows in los angeles such as wicked and the lion king.
definitely worth it!
that’s a signed copy of the hairspray playbill.
Went to NYC met up with some friends and we went to Broadway in the afternoon.
It was fun and the song stuck in one friends head, he kept singing it.
One nodded off during the first half but she enjoyed the 2nd Half.
Definately worth doing once.
As many hundreds of plays as I’ve seen in my life … I’ve never been to New York so I’ve definitely never been to the actual Broadway. I’ve seen a couple of Broadway shows that have traveled to other states, but I want to see one ON BROADWAY before I die. :)
I’ve seen THE WEDDING SINGER, Avenue Q, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, and DROWSY.
Do it if you can, but definitely do student rush tickets or hit up the TKTS booth for cheaper tickets. Look for people with vouchers.
Don’t’ forget the off-broadway shows. I saw ALTAR BOYZ and it was also amazing.
