How I did it: By far, the easiest way to do this is to go to a dog wash where you can bathe your dog in an elevated bath tub. The one that we use has a little halter-type thing too attached to the wall with a suction cup which keeps the dog from jumping out of the tub. Most dog washes supply shampoo and conditioner, but we use regular people shampoo. Yesterday we used VO5 strawberry milk shake shampoo, which smelled relaly good while we were using it, but left almost no scent at all on the dog. When you are ready, just wet the dog thoroughly, shampoo away, rinse thoroughly, and then use conditioner if you want and rinse again. Even though our dog is a collie and really hairy, she dries off really quickly. We just use the hair dryer a little bit on her at the dog wash, because she doesn't like the noise.
It's pretty easy to give a dog a bath, and I think it's fun too!

We took Sierra for a bath again, and today she met two other collies at the bath place , named Lassie and Leo. Lassie was nine years old, but Leo was only two. Fun to meet other collies, Sierra definitely relates different to then than to other dogs. It’s interesting that she gets so excited about dogs that are the same breed as she is.

We gave the dog a bath again yesterday. I am mostly just recording it here so I can remember the date….my DH and I don’t quite agree on the required frequency of baths for the Princess, but I think we both agree that seven months was way too long between baths!
but she didn’t try to kill me this time, which was good. so i gave her a nice little bath and brushed her teeth too. unfortunately i now smell like dog…

Oh, the Little red hen attempted to get help and none was forth coming, not me said the cat not me said the rat not me said the dog!!!!!
so I am giving in and taking Mo to the Groomer and Letting them tackle al 60 pounds of the wonder dog!
My dog has dry skin and she smells….so she needs a bath!!! I will give it to her in like thirty minutes to an hour. Once my daughter is down for her nap…
I need to do this today. I’m going out of town and having my mom and sister watch Maddy. Violet needs a bath too. We’ll be stuck in the car with her. They’re inside dogs and don’t stink much, but there’s always room for better. Violet needs her nails trimmed and I HATE doing that. They both need their teeth brushed as well. I feel like a bad mom.

for the semi-annual bath for The Princess. That’s why I added this to the list, as a reminder.
LOL, my darling hubby and I do not agree on the frequency for the princess’ baths. (She is a collie like Lassie). She is quite clean, compared to the previous Mutt, but she is at that point that when she gets wet, WHEW!!!! I think the DH would let her go until she got skunked or something, but that’s where we disagree.
With all the hair that comes out during the bath, we take her to the local do-it-yourself dog wash. It’s actually a fun job, but takes two people to get it done efficiently. So I need to convince the hubby that we need to do it. Soon.

Good Gawd! Damn hound smells worse now than she did before!
I think perhaps she needs some products in her hair to mask the smell…
