I rescued a number of little blues in New Zealand waters years ago. They’re a delightful sight out on the sea and sometimes get washed ashore if caught out in a storm. The Bird Rescue centre didn’t want to take them, so I kept them in a big concrete farm reservoir and force-fed them slivers of fish as they wouldn’t eat. They recovered and amazed me with their speed underwater! It was a shame to release them again, but my fingers thanked me for it…

In 5th grade, Mrs. K read us “Mr. Popper’s Penguins”. I’ve wanted a pet penguin ever since.
