How to volunteer at a nursing home
How I did it: This is one of the funnest things I have ever done, honestly. One of my friends sisters is in charge of organizing activities at a local nursing home. I volunteered to do the old ladys' nails every Thursday. A lot of them had Alzheimers and would tell the funniest stories. It was so much fun to joke around with them and make them laugh. I always encouraged co-workers to come along with me, and friends as well. Everybody that came absolutely enjoyed it. Whenever I left, I had funny stories to tell for the next week. I ended up moving out of state so I wasn't able to volunteer there anymore, but I just moved back and I want to get involved again. For anyone that isn't in to volunteering, I highly recommend it. It'll make you feel so good about yourself, and some of my best stories come from volunteer experiences.

I’ve called my local nursing home three times over the past two months. Each time, I was told that David, the volunteer coordinator, would call me back. He never did. This time, I asked to speak to David personally and coincidentally, he was not there! I was informed that he would ring me back the next day and surprise, surprise, he didn’t. That was four days ago. Perhaps I should take things further and actually visit the place. I just wanted to ring in first before showing up uninvited and so unexpectedly. The people working at the nursing home are so unprofessional and they don’t sound particularly friendly, often giving laconic responses to my questions during our phone conversations.
I hope i can do something for people, special old people. It’s so interesting…. Now,i learning English , after this course i’ll study Nursing.I’m really happy when my work can be useful and can help everybody.
I’ve had this on my list for a long time and haven’t even attempted to make progress on it. My Grandpa has gotten ill and I’ve been visiting him as much as possible but I think it’s the push I needed for getting started on this goal.

I’ve had this goal listed for a while. I haven’t forgotten about it. My family’s current financial situation is preventing me from proceeding with this goal – we have to sell our house and move asap or relinquish ownership. Hopefully, it’ll be the former. I do not think it would be wise if I were to volunteer at a local nursing home and have to stop soon after due to our family relocating.
i was just wondering how old you had to be to volunteer at a nursing? and if there were any nursing homes within the area with a zip code 63376 that can use volunteers?
My name is Candace Jessica Brown and I have a great passion for helping people. I love to witness the joy on peoples faces. That is what I plan to do volunteering at a nursing home. I plan to make them as happy and comfortable as possible. It is an honor to me to be in the prescence of elderly peple because they have wisdom and knowledge of the world that as I teen I have yet to experience.
Not too sure how to go about this process but I am fascinated with people’s lives and would just LOVE to meet the elderly and listen to them, soaking up all their stories. I am fascinated with the 40s and 50s and who better to learn about those times than the people that actually lived it?
I have a couple of reservations but it is something I’d like to accomplish.
Do you just call one up and ask if you can come in?
