How I did it: Practice, Practice, and more Practice.
Having started driver's education back in September, I followed through with lessons (only need 5 more hours) and I have been driving everywhere. And my parallel park? Perfect :)
I was so nervous but when the lady said congrats you pass...I screamed :) Read how I did it… 17 months ago
OH MY GOD, I DID IT!!! I PASSED!!!!
I am so happy!
So, it’s sunny and hot and as it’s a Monday morning, the traffic wasn’t bad. I had a good feeling. Nervous, but good.
I went and practiced with my in-car instructor for awhile before heading to the drive test centre.
The examiner was nice and very thorough. He’s new, so you know; he hasn’t been broken like the other staff has yet.
After signing papers, testing gears and brakes and hearing what’d be expected of me, we left the parking lot and did a left turn. Thank God I kept getting advanced greens! I was so lucky today!
We also did parallel parking, which I am a Golden Goddess at, but I was so nervous I tried twice and couldn’t do it. So we did a Three-Point-Turn instead, which was successful. Then we did a hill park and then another left (ADVANCED GREEN. AMAZING.) and just generally drove back to the drive test centre.
I pulled into the parking spot so hastily due to nerves that I took up a spot and a half. Oops. But then the examiner had heavenly words flow from his mouth.
“Alright, so you passed but there are a few things I’d like to go over…”
All I heard was “you passed” and I screamed with delight and yelled, “OH, I COULD HUG YOU!”
Of course he wanted to say I needed to practice parallel parking, and that there was one right turn I took in a slightly maniacal manner. But other than that and a few other slight errors, I passed with 76%!
I was so excited that I forgot to turn off the headlights when I jumped out of the car to tell my instructor the good news! LOL!
It took a year and a half and thousands of dollars, but I think it was totally worth it. Bring it on, life! I can do anything now. :) 2 years ago
