vickxy is getting back to it
I’m trying to make plans to do this next summer, just hope they all come together!
How I did it: I went with a brigade when I was just 16, fell in love with some cute guy, saw Fidel Castro give a speech (actually fell asleep cause it took like half a day), saw Elian, listened to some great live music, drank a looot of the local beer, made some cool friends, met some really really smart street kids and just loved every second of it. Took the best photos ever! I also worked for a week collecting oranges.

I’ve just returned from overseas, and I’d have to say that the most amazing place I visited was Cuba. The scenery, the people, the music! I went there to research the location for a novel, and it was just the best place. I would recommend visiting Cuba (particularly Havana) to anyone; it’s incredibly safe, and a lot of fun. But bypass the hotels in favour of casas particulares, houses rented out, either officially or unofficially, by the Cuban people. This is a great way to meet locals, and at 25 dollars a night it’s incredibly affordable.
i’ve always had a thing for all things cuban so i’ve set a date on my 25th birthday me and my sister are going to go to cuba but what would really be great would be meeting mr castro himself so hold thumbs maybe on the day i decide to go he’ll decide to take a stroll and i’ll run into him ;-)
When I lived and worked in Cuba even Che Guevara’s father was alive and I met him…
While I was traveling in a black market taxi in Havana the policia told us to pull over. No less than 30 seconds later a entourage of eight or nine jaguars with tinted windows drove past us. The taxi driver informed us that Fidel has just driven past us. Wow. What an experience.
I think everybody knows that after Fidel, Cuba as we now know it will disappear.
