How to travel to Brazil by madrugada

"Amazing - and tantalizing. I saw a lot, did a lot, but Brazil is a huge, beautiful country that I must explore further! "

How I did it: I planned to go in fall of 2006 but things didn't work out that way.
I was flexible, saved money, and spent time learning the language.
I finally traveled to Brazil in September & October of 2008.

It was totally worth it because my mom and aunt were able to come down and spend a week with me during my trip.

Brazil is a huge, beautiful country and I am planning to go back!

Lessons & tips: Take some Portuguese lessons or find a native-speaking tutor. And practice, practice, practice!
I had a friend that tutored me for 2 or 3 months once a week. We'd go and get coffee and read, chat, and practice pronunciation. He really helped and it was so much better to understand some of the language while I was traveling.

I waited until the last minute to get my visa - BIG mistake. If you know you want to go, get a passport and apply for a visa well in advance.

    Spent a month in Bahia and loved it. But then I took a last minute trip to Rio for a week and that was the highlight. Awesome city! Stay at the “Stone of the Beach” hostel.

    i really want to go to brazil is the only other latin country that doesnt have spanish as their main language cuz im latin but portuguese is quite easy if ur latin since it has already some latin words in its language ive been trying to learn the language too is not that bad but now i have to start over cuz i lost my notes damn, but i kno da stuff still. viva brasil :)

    Brazil was the last country i visited on my trip to South America. I started in Iguazu falls, after that it was time for Ilha Grande. I also spent two weeks in Rio.
