I moved into my new place seven months ago – seven months of absolute freedom! Looking back I can only wonder what took me so long!
How to get a place of my own
How I did it: pretty much got myself settled in a decent job, and got a very good deal on a new build. spent 4 months renting with friends, and realised how much i wanted to get my own place.
Lessons & tips: take your time finding a place, get a good deal. make sure you've got some savings put away as a backup for all the expense of buying stuff for a new house.
Resources: bought a 2 bedroom flat as a new build from a developer, and got a deal where i got a mortgage for 75% of the value, and the developers gave me a 25% interest free loan for 10 years. no deposit needed.

My roommates are driving me crazy, I’ve had it with the uni student lifestyle and I just want to settle into my own place.
I know it’ll be hard and I know I’ll end up on a tight budget, but I’m convinced it’ll all be worth it.
...and found a great place! I happened to see it online, went over there to check it out, absolutely loved it and immediately signed up for it. It was such a fluke that I can’t help but think it was fate and that this appartment was destined for me. It is only a rental so it is not really mine but since I pay the rent, I get to call it that. I painted the bedroom walls a lush olive green and the living room in a sand colour and one wall in a dark chocolate brown. Now all that is left is cleaning the place and I am ready to move in!

hmm seems like i may have 2 options….
1 the guy i’m currently seeing, has a friend of his that is looking to move out as well but may need a room mate because he cant afford it on his own.
2 a friend of mine is looking to move out of her house as well, but also cant do it on her own because it is expensive.
so i may end up getting a roomate to move with, although the ideal would be to be on my own…
A couple of weeks ago, while carpooling with my co-worker, I was talking about my plans of moving out of my parents’ house and finding a place for myself. The problem is that I don’t know how to go about finding a suitable place: what is the right size or price for a one-person appartment? Luckily, my co-worker does know about this sort of stuff and even came up with a great idea: a friend of hers has recently bought an appartment which he has been renovating and is planning on renting out once it is done. Maybe I could check it out? So we contacted him and the place looks great – on paper, I haven’t seen it in person yet since they are still working on it. It should be done in a couple of weeks though and he promissed to invite me afterwards to see it for myself. To be continued for sure.

on how i can get this accomplished sometime in the near future….
Chenoa is back after quite an absence. And is done with school and has a job!
So my other friend heard about this 3-bedroom place near campus that might work nicely for us and another friend. We’ll probably be checking it out on Sat. Sounds alright but i don’t want to have my expectations dashed, so keeping them low :)

...to rent with roommates, or on my own. Space is a luxury in this city, so I won’t be surprised to be offered a closet to live in :D
But a small apartment that can fit a few people would be nice too. I just do not want to live at home any more – I like my independence way too much!
Got a few numbers and names from colleagues too – so next week is house-hunting time!
PS: Yes, I would love a play-ballpen in my place – it would be AWESOME! Check out Randall’s place!

I really need to find a place to stay for myself. Living with family is great since you get home-cooked food, laundry & rent’s taken care of, but in the end, you’re subject to somebody else’s rules.
Plus I’m a night owl – I like to hang out late and chill with friends, and I love live music at pubs – it’s always interesting for a people-watcher. But yeah, living with family can make that difficult.
Can’t wait to move into the hostel on-campus!!!
