I actually HAVE my own library! It’s my second bedroom. _ It’s never been used for its intended purpose, and instead has been an office since I moved in. But I call it my library, not my office, because what is important to me isn’t the working or my computer (though my computer is VERY important to me) but MY BOOKS! Most of my collection is stored in my library, but there are books all over the house.
A friend of mine told me about Delicious Library several months ago, and I love it! I’ve catalogued most of my video game collection already. Bought some new stuff that needs to be added. I believe I’ve done my movie collection, too (been a while since I used the application). I started on my manga, but need to finish it. Then there’s the task of the books… that’s going to be SCARY. But it’ll be worth doing, because I’ve accidentally bought books that I’ve already owned. Oops.
I don’t expect I’ll get this done quickly, so let’s say… within six months, perhaps?

Wow. So I believe that unless I still have a DVD hiding somewhere around my place or someone else’s place for that matter, I have finished entering all of the DVD collection into Delicious Library!!!! (This, by the way, includes adding location notes, and revising actor, director and genre notes based on IMDB.com) bounces So I’m hoping that in the next week I’ll use this information to do some rearranging. I may soon start cataloging the book collection :)

This past weekend I picked up a MacBook to replace my iBook, and one of the first things I did was buy Delicious Library. The dvd collection is HUGE, as are the book, music and video game collections. I managed to scan in over 150 dvds this past weekend. Yay! The wonderful thing about this (and I really appreciate this as a Library student) is that now I can access my dvds in a variety of ways. I also went through and filled in additional information (such as location) and updated/revised information that was inaccurate (such as genre). For information that was not available on Amazon, I went to IMDB.com. I also dragged and dropped pics of dvd covers that were not available from scanning. I’m so excited. I’m hoping to pack some dvds to open up space. Delicious Library will help me to access them when needed.

It took me about 20 minutes to get 70 dvds into Delicious Lib. The far more daunting task, however, is my books…

I found the iSight remarkbly easy to use for Delicious Library. I always thought that lasers were necessary for reading barcodes, but I guess not! My only hiccup has been books without barcodes because they are so old.

I’m in the process of scanning all my cds. Who knew trying to be organized would be so much fun?
Delicious Monster is such a pleasant program to work with and has an absolutely beautiful interface. I wish there was better integration with iTunes, but that’s really my only wish/thought/improvement for the software…
