How to run the Bolder Boulder

onegirliknow is ready to start the next thing...

I missed it this year. 6 months ago

But I’m sure it will be happening again next year!

My first race! 17 months ago

So me and 54,000 others ran in the cool, wet morning of April 26th. Great weather for a run. I made my main goal of Under One Hour (official time 58:13) but not my Beat My Brother’s 10K time of 54 When He Was Young and Entered Without Training secondary goal. Next time. It was a really fun time, with TB and her huz to hang out with before and after. Never run a race before…never even called myself a “runner” till this year. I started jogging regularly back in July ‘07…and now I’m planning on a half marathon!

Just registered! 22 months ago

And I am chuckling a little at how insecure I was about possibly being able to do a 10K in the first post I made here eight months back! Wound up training for, and running my first half marathon last October, will run another in four weeks, and am actually feeling really good now about coming over to Boulder for the race. Just registered today! My oldest daughter will participate with me as well. Should be a blast.

Gonna do it 23 months ago

I’ve never run in my life, but I’m doing this this year (2008)! Already training!

1st one was 1982 2 years ago

I ran in 1982 and many other times. I have not run it in some time now… like 10 to 15 years now. OIE! Times does fly by. Is very well worth doing. great fun adna good accomplishment!
Good Luck

So much fun! 2 years ago

I did this earlier this week on a whim, as I was just visiting Boulder and they allowed late registration. I had never run a 10k before. It was an amazing experience and brought such a great feeling of accomplishment. I would definitely do it again!

Awesome race! 2 years ago

I ran today! I haven’t been running as much this year, but I think I either matched or barely beat last years time. (results not yet in) Last year, I finished in around 56 minutes. I ran with my almost 6’ neighbor…I’m a mere 5’4”. She smoked me last year. I am proud to say that I finished first this year. (she got a stomach cramp after the huge hill at mile 4 and puked.)
Such a high running into Folsom Field! It’s my yearly thing, now!

Good goal to shoot for next year! 2 years ago

I recently ran my first 5K and had a great time, and would really love to work my way up to a 10K. I’ve known a few people who have completed the Bolder Boulder who all seemed to feel a terrific sense of accomplishment from it, and I’d like to put this on my list of goals, and spend the next year preparing for the 2008 race. It would be a challenge, for sure, but I think I’m up to it, and I know my family would love to come cheer me on and enjoy all the festivities surrounding the race as well. I’m now in my mid-30’s, which is when my dad started running, and he eventually worked his way up from 10K’s to a few marathons over a few years. I’d love to follow that path as well if my body allows it!

Well. I am walking at lunch. Better than nothing. Onwards and upwards. Two weeks and counting…

Nope 2 years ago

Just to put a bow on this and call it done … I’ve quit running. It was ruining my knees. So now it’s five days a week at the gym, on the elliptical. That doesn’t hurt a bit, but my knees still hurt months after I quit running. I get the sense they’ll never be fully better. And I ran for only a few months. Glad I quit when I did.

My recommendation: Don’t take up running after 30.
