wow i don’t really know where to start but this is something i really want to do. i want to be a dj or work in radio, and i really need to get out there more!

my main project is the indie scene.

currently i’m listening to muse’s album absolution. its awesome.

i’ll know i have made progress in indie when i recognize music on kglt’s indie show.

My music collection has become very diverse in recent years. Sure, I have a lot of electronic and metal bands, but I also listen to world music, hip-hop, jazz, blues, classical, country, opera, rock…

I’m proud of the progress I’ve made—and I will happily continue exploring different genres and artists. :)

Have discovered a lot of interesting material of late and one of my favourite finds is an album from ‘07 by a Canadian band from the east coast…

Welcome To The Night Sky by Wintersleep

A great album from start to finish with 0 fillers (which is quite rare these day eh?!)

solid material and production … listen to some of their songs HERE

The boys bagged a Juno last month and recently got their album released in Japan. They are currently touring Europe (catch them live if you get the chance!!!)

I highly recommend that you pick up this fine album by Wintersleep

Also would like to share my picks of Top notch work by other Canuck bands/artists so here is my list of some the very best

    New adventures 21 months ago

I recently described 43T as “blogging about the boring parts of my life,” so eventually I imagine I’ll have a Thing for every essential facet I’d rather not ramble on about in my ‘real’ blog. ;)

Yeah, I’m definitely on a new music kick. Last week’s exploration of jazz (and discovering, among others, Cannonball Adderley, Gene Krupa, Earl Hines, Tommy Dorsey, Stan Getz) led into this week’s binge on — with the natural bridge of Laurent Petitgirard and the sudden /facepalm/ realization that ‘it’s high time I discovered Jacques Brel!’ — French music (sampled so far: Jacques Dutronc, Georges Brassens, Leo Ferre, Charles Trenet, Alain Bashung). They’re whole new worlds to me: I’m no more conversant in jazz now than I was in middle school band, and till now the chansons on my iPod went no further than Edith Piaf. I have no framework for this stuff, I don’t know subgenres or timelines or influences, couldn’t tell the greats from the underappreciated, and the ground-up novelty of it is so exciting to me…

Entering the French phase, I wonder how much of the language I could pick up if I immersed myself in the music—I know my binges on French films at least helped me maintain the level of proficiency I already had. But I’ve got to say, these guys annunciate admirably well, and if I could sing along and understand, I’d go a long way, eh? Again, exciting possibilities…

Jacques Brel. Holy hell, Jacques Brel. Yes, I was long overdue to discover this man—pathetically, I’d never realized how many Scott Walker songs I adore were written by Jacques Brel. The guy was a fucking poet, and I know that from Walker; the guy wrote gorgeous music, and I know that from ‘Ne me quitte pas.’ But I want to understand his every word, in his own language… Even scratching the surface of his discography and his meaning, he’s so amazing.

Well, speaking of just scratching the surface. I always will be in music: there’s just so much to be discovered. I’m so glad to be out of my musical rut and wading through this impossibly vast world again. I want everything… and as far as that goes, the Rough Guides are always a great place to begin a new tangent. Latin Funk? African Street Party? Chicago Blues? Yes, please!

I need new music in my life! I listen to the same stuff over and over again because I don’t know where to go for good recommendations. Pandora and Last.fm play the same stuff over and over again. My tastes must be pretty limited.

    Awesome stuff 2 years ago

Of Montreal and Midlake… check it!
Also listened to A Fine Frenzy, INXS, and other totally unrelated bands.

I have been listening to Pandora a lot, to learn new music. It’s kinda working.

Have done ... am doing ... whatever 2 years ago

Trying to close off my vague handwave-y goals bit by bit. Between iTunes, eMusic, and KEXP, my musical horizons get expanded pretty regularly.

NinaWills is returning to her equilibrium.

More open to all types 2 years ago

Since I adopted this goal, I’ve discovered new bands and sounds. Some I’ve grown to love whole-heartedly (e.g. Muse and The Feeling) while others, didn’t make it pass the first listening session.

Music is such a big part of my life, like oxygen, I can’t live without it.

    TODAY 2 years ago

I acquired an YDP-151C Yamaha electric piano, good instrument for students, I know a few things of piano, but now I’m interested in learn how to read and write , be able to write and play for her… I hope that my piano goes better than my guitar with her… she told me the other day that the piano is the most romantic instrument for her so; I decided to expand my musical horizons and give her a romantic afternoon with me playing his favourite instrument… I hope that my plan works…
