create a home of love and light

we are going college hunting for Darling 3. We are going to a college that has a self designed major, which was recommended by my daughter’s high school guidance counselor. I’m hoping to have some fun and move toward a clearer decision.

Darling 3 is leaving for Spain with her high school friends on Friday. Their friend P is from Spain and spent the school year at my daughter’s school. There are 6 – seventeen year old girls traveling for 18 days to northern Spain and France. They will stay with P’s family. I am trying to wrap my mind, heart, and energies around the details…travel money, packing, an appropriate gift for the family…

I came home at 9:30 this morning and I leave for work at 6:00 this evening. Things fall into disarray on the days I work and it is tough to recover between work shifts. I am happily to look forward to Saturday.

in my family, orderliness would be a real asset to my family. When I have time off work, I tend to try to restore order with more or less success. One challenge is keeping the dishes done and the kitchen clean. Part of the probelm is that family dinner is right before I leave for work. I will attempt a 5 minute restoration before work and then finish after work, before I go to bed. The girls will have some duties reinforced to keep me from trying to do it all. My Honey is the main chef so that is well covered :)

That’s my commitment from now to February, and I’m sticking to it!

It seems that my life has taken on new meaning and much clarity. I am the hub of this family. I accept that.

I have started having Sunday dinners out on the patio. All my children and grandchildren come. We have a wonderful time. Much laughter and joking. Paper plates (I know, I know) nothing fancy, just being together. In the midst of all the “yuck” we have this love and devotion to each other. In my home of love and light, I want to focus on this.

I’m having guests over tonight. In preparation for guests I usually rent a Rug Doctor for the carpet. Last night we bought a much smaller, easier to use carpet cleaner. I see frequent fresh upholstery and rugs in my future! Yay!

My house is full of happy gales of laughter and exploration! My daughter’s friend has brought her children to visit. There has not been this much energy in my house in many years. My husband is having more fun than I have seen in a long time, showing off how the piano works, playing flubber shoes and handing out snacks. Even though I have been there myself, I admire mama’s of little ones more that I can say!
