I do this occasionally, but I want to do this every day for this entire quarter so I do not resort to going off campus for lunches or eating out. I can watch what I eat better and it is simply just fun. For the past 2 weeks I have been making my boyfriend bento everyday and it has been very easy and working very well. I took a lot of advice from this website justbento.com and I have a stash of frozen rice and I make tea and miso eggs on Sundays. Last week I bought a bunch of little food dividers from Marukai as well. I have already tried many different recipes in only the past couple weeks from books on my shelf. Perhaps this will help me improve my cooking, too. Wish me luck ! I will say how well I have done in 10 weeks.

I’ve been planning to start making bento lunches for my boyfriend and I, just to make his and my day a little happier and a little more healthy. But the hard thing is we don’t have our own kitchen, and I mainly stay over at his house, so it’s hard to cook things without feeling like I am intruding on his family. I’m planning to buy a rice cooker to have in our room, but does anyone have any more suggestions on how to make bento without much access to a kitchen? I can buy a few other small appliances I guess, but room is limited… which ones do you think would be most beneficial?
I have more motivation to start this now because my boyfriend is most likely celiac (test results come back soon), so he won’t be able to eat wheat/gluten, and asian style foods make great gluten free meals – meat, rice, fruit and veggies are all fine.
I can’t wait :D

Sarah is overhauling her list
i’m working all day next saturday so i intend on taking an adorable packed lunch, although not as intricate as this just yet, needless to say! i work with a bunch of girls so something this cute will go down great. my little pink apple coin purse is still a big hit and, even though i’ve had it ages, the novelty never seems to wear off.

I am packing my box the night before, it doesn’t take long to prepare. Everyone at work always has a look, a guy on my team said I have the neatest lunchbox he has ever seen – the manager was there and took it as an indication that I must be a very organised person, which is a good impression to give!
I awarded myself a treat on Friday and had strawberries with chocolate dipping sauce… yummy!

On Friday I had leftover pasta salad, fruit salad, a babybel cheese and cherry tomatoes.
For tomorrow I have made one with a pitta, feta cheese, green and black olives, sundried tomato, houmous, falafel, orange sweet pepper, fruit salad and a strawberry shaped yoghurt.
My new colleagues keep saying how nice my lunches look and I am really enjoying having something beautiful to open at lunchtimes. :)

Last night I packed myself a delicious bento for my first day of work, with rice, vegetables, a babybel cheese, cherry tomatoes, and a fruit salad of mango, pineapple and pomegranate seeds.
I have just packed one for tomorrow with leftover pizza, a dairylea cheese triangle, cherry tomatoes and the same fruit salad as today.

I make bento lunches sometimes for college and placement, but I can be rather lazy… But I have just bought a GORGEOUS (and insanely expensive! $35/£25 with shipping) My Neighbour Totoro bento, so it would be doing it an injustice to not use it every day!

Did my first bento tonight because I was bored. :)
Scrambled eggs sprinkled with paprika and wrapped in tortillas. Rice balls, and shredded chicken strips with honey and mustard drizzled on top. I’m very pleased with how it looks, even if I did dirty a ton of dishes doing it!

kitart is sooooooooooo happy its the weekend.
I was doing really well at this for a while, even posted them on a blog http://sandrasbentos.blogspot.com/, but I fell out of the habit. Unfortunately. It really makes for a lift in the day to have something really special waiting for lunch, sort of makes the day go better. So I am planning lunches for the new semester, going to get some stuff made and frozen in small portions this week to get me started off right.

It’s been a while since I packed a bento. Or remember to share it on here. I’ve mostly been making lazy lunches like grabbing oamc pb&j sandwiches. This one is spaghetti squash spaghetti, melon balls, cucumber slices, and cheese cubes.
