Stop spending money like a drunken Kennedy

There goes this goal...New Years? 1 week ago

Tis the season. Just spent $200 on my boyfriend’s Christmas gift…and I’m not done yet, either. That’s like a quarter of my monthly income. Sure, he’ll LOVE it, but he’ll buy me a chocolate bar or soap or something men think women like and then I’ll feel stupid.

Gr.

Credit Cards 3 weeks ago

I am happy to report that I have a positive balance with my credit card company. Apparently, I paid two time. I don’t plan to buy a new home or car, but it is nice to have a good credit rating.

I’ve had to stop being a Kennedy, as business is just not what it once was. And I discovered that going out to the bars is expensive (and boring). Now I’m going to try and have fun spending as little money as possible in ‘08.

But in a homage to the Kennedy way, I’m ordering one last expensive thing in ‘07: a dog bed from L.L. Bean for my black Lab. If that doesn’t scream Hyannisport, I don’t know what does.

I’m an iTunes junkie, so in a good step to this goal, I’ve decided to go on hiatus from buying songs through the end of the year. I spend an average of $30 a month at the iTunes store, so to get my new music fix I decided to give a one-month last.fm subscription a try. They have streaming music stations for every artist you can think of, and I’m hearing a lot of songs I may not have stumbled across on my own. It’s $3 a month, and even if I decide to stop subscribing I can still listen to and scrobble the music to my account. A small step towards the effort to stop spending money like a drunken Kennedy. More to come as I get poorer. lol. :-)

at it again... 1 year ago

of course as it’s Christmastime. Problem is Mark and I are buying a lot for ourselves too! Along with the new car payment money is flying out of our hands at a rapid pace. New computer gadgets, new electronics, all sorts of technology really! Have not and will not go into credit card debt though so that is a positive! Once Christmas is finished we’ll be back on the road to savings hopefully!

kids, you all need to check out Dave Ramsey’s financial peace university. It has changed my life.

oh bloody hell... 3 years ago

my car is on the outs again! The beater has some sort of hole in it and the mechanic I was going to told me he couldn’t figure out where water was getting in. Water kept accumulating on my driver side floor… now the drivers seat is moving around a bit. It appears to have corrosion underneath and broken a bolt to the seat! Pffft, it’s probably corroded the floor board so badly that the bloody thing is about to bust apart.
I hate to say it but perhaps it’s time for a new car! This ones really starting to irritate me and I just spent 500 on it since the summer.

I could get something new now but I wanted this one to last until Mark moves over because it’s all paid off. Then, Mark and I could purchase something really nice together and both have a say in what we choose. Well, I’ll call another mechanic and see if he’d be willing to touch it. I won’t continue to drive it if they can’t make it safe.

Money is for spending! 3 years ago

That is why I checked off that I have done this, am doing this, but I want to SPEND!

Very amusing title though. Got my attention. :)

argh... 3 years ago

Tomorrow, I’ll be ordering the Audio CD of Ann Coulter’s ‘Godless: The Church of Liberalism’ and another book as well. I’ll also be getting yet another TV as I have to return the first one due to the DVD player not playing DVD-R’s smoothly! Argh, do they make DVD players that are decent about playing DVD-Rs?

Anyhow, I’m due to spend a pretty penny tomorrow!
