How to steal a street sign

 "You just ran over a stop sign!!"
How I did it: I've stolen a few street signs... but probably the most memorable street sign wasn't even stolen. It was late at night... probably around 3am, and some friends and I were sitting outside in a car outside my apartment. My apartment has roads and stop signs in the complex and I live on one of the corners. So we are chillin and out of nowhere this guy completely runs over a stop sign. His car is propped up in mid air on the stop sign, and instead of reversing off the sign, he slams on the gas and completely knocks the sign over and the sign falls off the pole. So we ran over and grabbed it. Turns out the guy was completely drunk and it could have been a lot worse than it was.. but we got a stop sign out of it. Lessons & tips: If you are taking one down, do it at night. Have strong tools, they are on there tight! Or just run it over haha! Resources: a drunk guy |

How I did it: The stolen street sign was the result of an auto accident, where we ran into a cattle crossing sign on the edge of a cliff. Dumb thing to do as a kid while sleeping out one night.
Speed limit sign – in tall weeds so we could hide in the weeds. Took the top bolt out first just as a car came over the hill so the headlights caught the sign swinging down. After the car passed, we took the bottom bolt off and hung the sign in our tree house. Wonder who in the group eventually wound up with it.

From old worn out ones that had bullet holes in them and repainted in fluorescent colors black light and alternate moods...
To the more modern signs that may have said “Stop” and “No stop for right turn”...
I hope the statute of limitations has passed…;)

Let’s just say that didn’t happen to go so well.
I had the thing for three weeks and one day someone left the door to my dorm open. The campus police walked by and saw it and wrote me up for possession of stolen property.
I’m going to say its a great idea to steal a sign if you live alone but if you are in college don’t do it. You’ll end up having to go to court and it causes so many problems if anyone finds out.
Always wanted to do this. Just need the nerves and a night with no cops lol
