"It was fun, helped our friendships, and gave us a break from the norm!"
How I did it: Talked to a couple of friends, one of which lives 400 miles away. We decided to meet in the middle, where there was a ren-faire. We booked a room and traveled, and checked into the room and it cost less than 20 a person for the room.
We had a great time at the faire, my one friend flirted like crazy, while we married gals were more subdued. Had a faboulous dinner, and like the nerds we are, were asleep by 11 pm. Next day, long brunch, road back over the Florida Everglades, and happy memories. We talked about our hopes, dreams, and gave many hugs and warm compliments to each other. The power of three!
We had decided to do this sort of trip every four months, as a change of season sort of thing with different locations. What fun, and it cost me less than $100 US!
Lessons & tips: Plan out, make reservations, and do it even tho your significant other might not be too happy. It is important to have a balance in life, and friendships are part of that.
Then when you get back home, you can show the love!
