after a lot of thought.... 10 months ago

..I realized I never really missed having religion in my life. I’m a pretty skeptical person to begin with. If you HAD to label me I guess it would be agnostic.

I was raised absolutely irreligious, so when I was sixteen, I did my own exploring. I would go to as many different services as possible, read as much as possible, and ask all the questions you can. The right thing will find you.

i think that after death we go back to the same state we were in before we were born—unconscious…like in sleep. that’s what i believe.

godisimaginary and I have no beliefs

I’ve realized that you can’t care what other people think about your beliefs. You have to really think about what you believe in and spend time realizing it. Although I don’t believe I will ever stop discovering new things and my beliefs will always be evolving as I experience more in life, I feel secure in my beliefs now and know that it is what I truly believe.

unitarian universalist "insight" 2 years ago

read this great “sermon” about amelie, and didn’t even know it was a sermon, i thought it was just an analysis and insight into the movie….loved what it had to say, then discovered it was a sermon from a unitarian univeralist church. i loved what they had to say so much, i looked up that kind of “church” or whatever in san diego and found one. can’t go till 2 weekends from now, but then i’m curious and want to go. if you’re interested in the article, here’s the link (they analyze chocolat as well):

good stuff man. can’t wait to go. i guess they combine psychology, modern day events and movies, with teachings from all different religions, and present what people can learn from them…..kind of like a class i guess. i just hope it’s not too “churchy”

Religion is a creation of Man 2 years ago

God gives us Spirituality. It has no doctrine, no dogma, only LOVE. Love thy God and Love thy Neighbor. Faith in God will flow freely when we can experience these two commandments. The hardest part of this is that many people do not love themselves so they cannot truly love their neighbors. Let GO Let God

Also studying Buddhism 2 years ago

I was raised Catholic, but have always questioned my beliefs in different aspects of the religion. I’ve recently begun reading some about Theravada Buddhism. I’m wondering if anyone can suggest some good books on this subject? I’d appreciate it!

am reading a book about buddhism right now, and also reading a book about healing your life by louise hay. both are really good and really helpful. kinda re-awakening my spiritual self that has been dead for so long. interesting to read and really interesting with life application. just like everything else in life, you have to APPLY what you read or else nothing will happen…i’m in the process of applying what i’m learning. have felt positive results already, just need to keep reading and keep trying to think myself positive. :)

I’ve decided that agonising over what to believe in is actually a waste of time. Time that could be better spent doing something that may even make the world a better place. Surely that’s the most important thing in life? The basis of most religions as far as i can see is the existence of eternal life after death, which can sometimes strike me as a little self-centred.
