i’m in a new band. ha. we still have yet to practice, but we had some of the members in an old band once and it was lots of fun. if we get together, i will hopefully end up both playing my violin more, and practicing more!

I have been playing the violin since I was 5, I’m now 14 and working towards grade 7. I don’t seem to have the technical accomplishment I should and get really dissapointed with public performances as always mess up, and never seem fully prepared no matter how much I practice. I have problems with nerves and it ruins my performance. I also have problems remembering scales, which lowers my mark in exams.
-How can I improve my overall playing?
-How can I sort out my nerves?
-How can I remember scales?
Any tips would be most appreciated.
I’ve been playing since I was in 5th grade, and I had gotten better through 6th and 7th grade. But this year, I became part of second violin, which really isn’t that bad, but I miss playing melody, and even when I try hard I still could not make it to first violin for the last concert. There were originally 7 second violins and I would always be first or second chair. Now there are only four, but I’m still first chair. There were originally 5 firsts, now there are 8. I really don’t understand why I can’t get first violin, when I always get first chair on normal playing test. But when it comes to first violin auditions, I get nervous. Can someone please give me tips to help me with auditioning, because next year I need to audition for the orchestra, and I want to get into Concert Orchestra, which is one higher from the lower orchestra (Cavalier Orchestra) and one lower from the highest orchestra (Chamber Orchestra).
that’s a good way to get better. fun too. doesn’t happen enough yet. but i’ll keep this in mind.
New term starts monday 22. This one MUST be better than the last one. I shall SO practice more now.
Ah, Dammit, I always say that. I always promise myself to take the violin more serious.
I shouldn’t talk, I should act. How impossible could things be?
I’ve been playing the violing for seven years, and I’m still no good at it! I have to practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice!
But I never have the time… Though that’s just a bad excuse for not wanting to practice. It feels so useless when I already know I will never be really good at it, I started to late…
yesterday my relatives asked if i wanted to come jam after a family get together. it was great- tons of different instruments (drums, bass, sax, guitar, percussion, and vocals) and it was fun and i was improving on the violin.
it felt really good. i need to play more!
i need to keep up so i can teach better. and teaching viola. i need to practice my clefs.
yeah
so i’ve played since i was 8, but on and off people! you know how it is. i really want to play regularly and work on stuff to get better.
i’m even teaching lessons so i should really be trying to get way better and be sauceum rockin soo soon!
(goals could include: bettering my III/IV positions, vibrato full time, trying to play more new pieces, and getting faster at fiddlin tunes. starting with any of these would be gold)
bye
