How to see a kabuki show
How I did it: I'd lived in Japan for over 4 years and still hadn't seen Kabuki. Finally, my newlywed friends came over on their honeymoon (Aaron having trained in suzuki method and butoh), and I took them into Kabuki-za in Ginza. Thank God I got a chance to go before they pull it down. Such a shame really, so much history.
Lessons & tips: Go to Kabuki-za before they pull it down... you can find show times online and if you rock up 45 mins before you should be able to snag decent back row seats for 1000yen. Staff speak English, English audio guides available.
