I have been skating at least once per week the whole summer. I have joined the Washington Area Roadskaters at least half a dozen times and the other times I skate alone. I even went out and updated my equiptment. I bought new K2s, but had to change the bearings because they were too slow. I also bought a new helmet. I never used to wear them before, but now I do it mainly because I have to little kids at home. I am enjoying skating so much! It also helps me with my other goal which is to lose another 20 lbs.

Friday night I finally met up with the group I used to skate with in D.C. for the first time in about 7 years. They call themselves W.A.R. (Washington Area Roadskaters). We skated from the White House to the Capital, from the Capital to the Washington Monument, past the Jefferson Memorial and down around Hanes Point, and then from there to the Lincoln Memorial. It was a beautiful night and the weather was great. It was great exercise and a lot of fun! I am looking forward to joining them again sometime. I have also been skating a few times along the Potomac River at Bel Haven a few times lately. I am so enjoying it! I just need to update my skates and gear. Then I will be all set!
It was fantastic! I skated with a friend along the Potomac River near Bel Haven Marina. I had a great time even though I wasn’t skating a fast as I like to because I was talking to my friend. After she left, I listened to my ipod and skated to the music in the parking lot. It felt so liberating! I enjoyed myself so much and I can’t wait for another nice day to go out and do it again.
For this Sunday! We ought to go in the early a.m. before it gets too muggy. I’m planning to put little Dash in the jogging stroller and skate, pushing it. This will rock!
The summer prior to being pregnant with Dash was the last time. But I have plans now with Raques to go in two weeks! Yay!
I used to have vanity plates on my car that read, “SK8N L8R.” I know it was cheesy, but it was so true. I skated several times per week. When I was skating I felt the most free; the most me! I used to skate along the Potomac River in Alexandria and along the trails in Arlington in Virginia. I also frequently skated in Washington, D.C. Many times I would skate with a skate group in D.C. called W.A.R. (Washing Area Roadskaters – http://www.skatedc.org/index.html). It was great fun! I stayed in much better shape than I am in now and I really enjoyed it.
Once I started dating the man who would become my husband I stopped skating to spend time with him. Once we got married, we started having kids and now I feel guilty leaving my kids with a babysitter just so I can go skating. Once the weather warms up, I am going to go skating again even if it isn’t as often as I would like.
