reduce my "To Be Read" bookshelf to five books

I have acheived this goal 3 years ago

but only by cheating, I had to move away from “home” for training and a new job – only 4 books came with me! Little victories still count…

Done it! 3 years ago

Well, I’m down to four!

I am quite proud of myself. It was nice when I had a huge stack of books to choose from, but as I worked down my pile I realised that several of the books were never going to be read, and it was very freeing to pass them on.

I’ve been making much more use of the library recently and have discovered some great new authors. I’ve also been re-reading some of my favourites from my shelf. Definitely worth it!

Books just keeep on gathering. 3 years ago

I seem to be going backwards all the time, maybe Lizzie is right – 15 would be a better number!

Still trying... 3 years ago

unfortunately it was the library booksale this week which only happens about once a year and I really look forward to it. I bought 13 books for just £1, how can you resist bargains like that! The strange thing is that before then I was down to about 7 books to be read and I was starting to feel as though I didn’t have enough choice, and now I have loads of choice. Maybe 5 books is too few?

Seem to get stuck 3 years ago

It’s funny, I can’t seem to get the number below 15! Every time I read one, I seem to acquire one from somewhere! Still working on it though…

Doing well with this 4 years ago

I’m working through them and I’ve not acquired any for several weeks now!

Got some reading to do 4 years ago

I’ve counted up my unread books and they total 17, as well as the 3 that I am reading but have only just started. That’s not too bad, although one of the books is The Complete Works of William Shakespeare. I won’t list them here, they are on my Bookcrossing To Be Read pile so that is enough. Maybe it’s cheating, but I’m going to start by reading the easy ones!

Unread books 4 years ago

Currently they are in two places – physically on a shelf in the second bedroom and virtually on my bookshelf at Bookcrossing.com. As another of my goals is to register all my books on Bookcrossing, and all of the unread books currently do belong to me, the first thing to do is to make sure that the two “lists” match up! Then I need to stop acquiring more books for a few months until I have made some good progress. Five seems a good number to get down to as then I will have a choice of what to read next. Currently I think that I have about twenty unread books.
