journal for your children 3 years ago

I have this really amazing journal that I’m working on for my daughter. Basically, there is a list of inspiring questions that I am answering….things like:

    1. What is something that your children don’t know about you that they would find interesting?

    2. If you could change one thing about the way you generally live, what would it be?

    3. When you were an adolescent, what was your greatest fear? What was your greatest joy? What was most important to you?

    4. The one thing you wanted from your mother….

etc….there are many more. There is also a series of questions designed for daughter to mother (it could be son to mother also…)

It is such a great way for us to share with each other. I’m trying to get my mom to write on for me!

Although my project is a little bit different from your goal (because this is a journal that is designed to share with kids when they are teens)....I still think it is very valuable!

Writing Letters to my Children 3 years ago

Today is my baby’s last day of high school. My other three children are married. Time went too fast. There were things I meant to say, things I meant to teach them that I never got around to doing. I’m starting a journal today just for the purpose of writing letters to my children to share with them memories and observations and thoughts. It’s something I wish I had from my parents who are gone now. I hope it will be something important to my own kids.

I did this for both of my kiddos... 4 years ago

I kept a journal of sorts, written in letter form, to my oldest for 7 years, from the time I found out I was pregnant until I filled the book. I lost my second child and it’s book only has 2 entries, the day I found out and one after I lost it. My littlest kiddo’s book is pretty skimpy but I still kept it up for a number of years. It’s a great chronicle of how much they mean to you and when they are teens (as my oldest is now) they need to be reminded of that.

NO children Yet... 4 years ago

But I like the idea of writing letters to them… knowing that one day, I will have at least one child. AND…. in the odd event that I do not—my closest family and friends will know more about me, and how I lived, loved and laughed.

    I’m starting this one tonight.

i got no children yet …

but i do agree with this goal. i’d definitely do it.

    thanks for the idea!

No children yet, but..... 4 years ago

I don’t have children, but this is something that I’d like to do if I had someone to share them with. I guess this goal kinda coincides with my goal to write down my stories. Either way, I love personal history and I am excited to share my history.
