Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

AdrianAnd yet another one

These guys look a bit better – they don’t seem to charge for the basic service but don’t hamstring you and not allow you to reply to emails – grrr – like the other bloody sites.

Also whacked it on:

So in summary, moveflat good, spareroom good, craigslist good. Flatmateclick and easyroommate less good – because you have to pay for the useful stuff – at least Loot is honest about the service you get the others – don’t tell you about the truth until too late – after you have filled everything in. Still “Caveat Emptor” I suppose :-( 8 years ago

These guys look okay – I wonder if they will try to charge me: 8 years ago

AdrianAccepted Tracey

She seems very nice and down to earth – we had a long chat yesterday about the mechanics of her living here and everything seemed pretty good. We shall have to see. Need another flat mate soon though. Hmmm – I will have to consider other sites… 8 years ago

AdrianAnother site

Two people today – Fiona who seemed nice and Kit and his brother who whilst nice where not suitable really because they wanted to share the room and I didn’t want this.

AdrianAll my existing flatmates are moving out....

So I have got to find two new shiny ones.

I have the first one coming around tonight. I have compiled a comprehensive list of questions:

1. Do you like washing up?
2. Clean and tidy or sterile
3. Loud music
4. Friends
5. Cheese
6. Will you love my Sock Monkey?
7. Long term partners
8. Facial hair
9. Job/Career
10. What do you feel about lists?

Just in case – anybody is interested or just plain nosy :-) 8 years ago

I rather live alone. I’ve been living alone for so long before I was with my ex. I will be better alone! 8 years ago
