Writing such an text-adventue has always been on my list; probably for too long as I started dreaming about it when I was ten. And that’s now almost twenty years ago. sigh

Like all programmers I’m really more interested in writing the technical part. Not content, I’ve no writing skills at all and my english is not good enough and I don’t want to write one in my native language (german) because a) I suck at it too and b) the audience should be everyone who understands english.

It should include its on system of live, people/things moving around on the map, doing more or less useful things like day to the work or tasks specific for certain puzzles. No two games should play the same way, but I think that’s just a dream.

The should be next to no limit on what is possible and what not in the game. Although I like the “real text only” versions, some kind of automap of visited places should be provided.

Since we’ve 2006 now my vision is not only a terminal application but it could be even web enabled. Using a server-side backend like PHP handling the logic (e.g. simulating the system) and using a fancy Ajax client doing interaction with the server, doing automap with SVG, provide nice graphics if applicable, etc.

In the end the system should be open (and source) to anyone and for any kind of story.
